It is said that Goa Lawah was made with the appeal of the priest from Java called empu Kuturan at the beginning of the 11th century.Pura Goa Lawah or Bat Cave Temple is one of nine directional temples on Bali.Goa means cave,and Lawah is bat.The cliff face is crammed,packed and jammed full of bats,there is batty stench exuding from the cave and the roof of the temple shrines, which are in front of the cave,are liberally coated with bat droppings.The women who are being menstruantion is prohibited to enter the temples.
