The temple is located on Bedugul ,about 60km north from Denpasar. This temple was built by the King of Mengwi in 1633.It is a very important Hindu-Buddhist temple,It was founded in 17 century and is dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of water(The lake goddess). It is actually built on small islands, which means it is completely surrounded by the lake. The major ceremonies are held here to ensure that there is a water supply for farmers all over the island. It is truly beautiful, with the often cloudy mountain backdrop and classical Hindu multiroofed shrines reflected in the water.
